About Our Mission

Our WHY
On July 21, 2014, 16-month-old Noah's life was tragically cut short after he suffered abuse at the hands of his caretaker, whose struggle with untreated mental illness played a devastating role. Noah's story inspires our mission to protect children by promoting mental health awareness, education, and research—so that no other family has to endure such a loss.
Why Our Work Matters
Key Statistic
1 in 8 children in the U.S. lives with a parent or caretaker who has a mental illness.
(Centers for Disease Control and Prevention — National Center for Health Statistics)
These children are at higher risk of neglect, emotional trauma, and entering the foster care system.
Supporting Fact About Social Services
Child protective and family service agencies, including DFACS, report being overwhelmed — with as many as 60% of families referred to child welfare services involving a parent or caretaker with a mental health or substance use disorder.
(U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, 2023)

Why This Matters
Social services are stretched thin. Agencies like DFACS do their best, but they cannot meet every child's emotional, educational, and preventive needs alone.
That's why organizations like Noah's Fund MHRE are critical — we fill the gaps through mental health education, community support, and prevention programs that protect children before crisis intervention is needed.
Noah's Fund MHRE aims to:
-
protect children like Noah
-
ensure those like Noah are not impacted by the effects of mental health illnesses

Noah's Fund MHRE is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that curates studies and programs to facilitate better quality of life for children.

A Message from Our Founder, Darius Cache
Noah was more than family—he was a part of my heart. His life and spirit continue to inspire everything I do. Noah was deeply impacted by the mental health challenges faced by his caretaker, and through that experience I witnessed firsthand how untreated mental illness can harm the most innocent among us: our children.
I founded Noah's Fund for Mental Health Research & Education, Inc. to honor his memory and protect children like him. Through research, education, and family support, we're working to prevent cycles of trauma, neglect, and loss that often begin with unaddressed mental health issues.
My books—like Bernard's Song—explore healing, conflict resolution, and the path toward family restoration. A portion of all proceeds supports Noah's Fund MHRE and its mission to build stronger, healthier futures for children and families.
Noah's story reminds me every day why this work matters. I write, serve, and advocate in his name—to protect children, strengthen families, and bring hope where it's needed most.
